In 1960, C.G. Potter started a trucking operation at the Erie Railroad ramp in
Jersey City, NJ. He named the company after his home town of Maumee, OH.
Business grew and soon C.G. was running 10 trucks.
Ronald Potter, MXI's current president, took over the family business upon
C.G.'s death in 1987. Based upon Ron's contacts and experience, MXI's
operations expanded.
In 1991, the company received its first hazardous waste hauling permit in New
Jersey. Today, MXI is permitted in 42 states to transport hazardous and
non-hazardous waste materials, operating through five terminals (NJ, VA,
SC, TX, CA).
In 1997, Solid Waste Transfer Operations commenced in Virginia. In 1998, MXI
Environmental Services LLC was formed to support customers who were looking to
process non-hazardous waste. MXI recieved its Materials Recovery Facility
(MRF) permit from Virginia in the same year and commenced
operations.
In 2002, MXI Environmental expanded, securing a Distilled Spirits
Plant (DSP) permit from the ATF, enabling MXI to recycle
ethanol-based products.
In 2005, MXI purchased a Transfer Terminal in Langhorne PA and relocated our
Piscataway location to that site.
In 2006, MXI purchased a Transfer Terminal in
Sumter SC and relocated our operations in Sumter to that site
In 2008, MXI Environmental Services LLC added a new bubble cup column powered by a new used oil boiler that expanded the capacity of the DSP by five fold. The new plant is a state of the art facility designed specifically to recycle Ethanol.
