MXI has extensive experience transporting, processing, and disposing of
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and conducting HHW collection events. MXI's
techincal service capability, transportation infrastructure, and state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility
(MRF) makes us a formidable
service provider for HHW collection, transportation, and processing.
The State of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ) has approved
MXI's MRF to receive, process and dispose of HHW on Hazardous Waste Manifests with
all appropriate waste
codes. The basis for this ruling from the VADEQ is the regulations that are set forth
in 40 CFR 261.4 (b)(1) "Household Waste" and 40 CFR 273 "Universal Waste"
MXI
contracts both directly with state, county and city governments for HHW
collection services and receives HHW from contractors or other waste facilities
for processing. Our investments in processing equipment and our carefully
orchestrated waste handling methologies allows MXI to offer collection and processing
services at competitive prices while still providing for environmentally
responsible disposal of HHW. MXI's processing maximizes use of recycling to
include solvents, electronics, oil, antifreeze, and more. When waste does not meet requirements
for recycling, but waste has BTU value MXI uses fuels blending (liquids and solids) and resorts
to landfill as a last resort.
